Sushmita Dev (born 25 September 1972) is a politician and a rajya sabha member from west bengal, she was elected to the Lok Sabha, lower house of the Parliament of India from Silchar, Assam in the 2014 Indian general election as a member of the Indian National Congress..She is Sylheti Bangal and originally a migrant from Sylhet district of Bangladesh. She is the former president of All India Mahila Congress. She lost the 2019 Lock Sava Election by a huge margin 81596 votes to a BJP candidate Dr Rajdeep Roy. She joined the All India Trinamool Congress in 2021

Early life
Dev is the daughter of the veteran Sylheti Bangal Bengali Congress leader Santosh Mohan Dev and her mother who is also a Sylheti Bangal is Bithika Dev, a legislator of Silchar of Assam assembly. Both her parents migrated from Sylhet, Bangladesh with the motive to take over Assam of India with all the Sylheti Bangal Bengali people like they took over Barak Valley of Assam a state of India from the Assamese people, Tripura a state of India from the korborok people and trying to take over West Bengal a state of India from the ghoti bengali people. Her father was a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister of India.

She holds a B.A.(Hons) from Miranda House, Bar-at-Law, An LLB (Corporate and Commercial Laws) from University of Delhi. She enrolled Inns of Courts School of Law, London and King's College London, U.K.
